RB Leipzig appeal Willi Orbán’s suspension | OneFootball

The DFB Sports Court confirmed a two-game ban for Willi Orbán (31) after the RB Leipzig defender was sent off against Bochum on the opening weekend. The Saxony club lodged an appeal, which was rejected on Thursday, but the club announced on Friday that they would again appeal the suspension, with the DFB confirming the “timely appeal.”

As reported by Kicker, it’s now up to the Bundesliga side to justify its appeal in writing before the DFB make a final decision on Orbán’s suspension following an oral hearing. At this point, a third appeal is not possible. RB Leipzig also expect to hear a verdict next week, before their game against Union Berlin on September 14.

Mohamed Simakan, Castello Lukeba and Orbán all started against Bochum on the opening weekend but following Simakan’s departure and Orbán’s suspension, Lukas Klostermann and El Chadaille Bitshiabu started in the club’s 3-2 win against Bayer Leverkusen last weekend. Against Union, Lutsharel Geertruida could make his debut following his move from Dutch side Feyenoord.
