Germany international Lukas Klostermann will undergo surgery on a knee problem on Wednesday, RB Leipzig have announced.
The 24-year-old was substituted in his side’s 2-0 win at Augsburg on Saturday after sustaining an injury to his left knee without any contact from an opposing player.
The club have now confirmed that he will undergo arthroscopic surgery tomorrow on the issue.
However, the statement did not confirm the exact nature of the injury or how long Klostermann is expected to be sidelined for.
The decision to opt for surgery came after consultation with the club’s medical staff, with some reports suggesting the issue may have first arisen while he was away on international duty.
