Rayo Vallecano join race for Real Betis starlet

The board at Rayo Vallecano have earmarked a member of the defensive ranks at La Liga rivals Real Betis as a potential summer signing.
That’s according to transfer insider Matteo Moretto, who points towards Nobel Mendy as the player in question.
Mendy, for his part, is a 20-year-old central defender, who was signed by Real Betis on a permanent basis in the summer of 2024.
The Senegalese spent the bulk of this past season plying his trade with the Verdiblancos’ reserve outfit.
Mendy also featured on occasion for Manuel Pellegrini’s senior side, though, racking up five total appearances across all competitions.
And his efforts over the length of the campaign proved enough to pique the attentions of several clubs.
To date, Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven have been the side most persistently tipped as a potential landing spot for the youngster.
As confirmed by journalist Matteo Moretto, though:
‘The negotiation between Betis and PSV for Nobel Mendy remains stalled due to bureaucratic issues.’
Owing to as much, Mendy is taking into consideration other options, with Rayo Vallecano one such club to have positioned themselves in the race for his signature this week.
