The Hoops looked certain to suffer the drop under Gareth Ainsworth but Martí Cifuentes turned things around to steer the club clear of League One.
The West London club finished 18th in the table, six points clear of the bottom three, with three wins in their final three fixtures proving crucial.
The team’s form under Cifuentes has raised optimism that he can be the man to bring the club forward.
The summer will be a big test of the new era of QPR, as they will be looking to make improvements to the squad in order to push for a top-half finish next season.
However, there are also players that could yet depart Loftus Road in the upcoming summer window.
Here we take a look at the QPR players that should be loaned out by the Championship side for the next campaign…
A significant long-term injury hurt his development a couple of years ago but Lorent Talla is now back and performing well at youth level.
The 19-year-old needs to make the step up to senior football at some point but isn’t quite ready to be competing for QPR in the Championship.
A move in the summer on loan would be a smart next step at this stage of his career as that kind of experience could be very useful for his development.
The midfielder, who can play in the forward line as well, has already received international recognition with Kosovo and now should be the time he takes the step up to compete at senior level.
Rayan Kolli made 10 appearances in the Championship last season, all of which came from the bench (all stats from Fbref).
The teenager has impressed many with his performances at youth level and has now made a breakthrough into senior first team football.
While he has earned opportunities to perform in Cifuentes’ team, perhaps a loan this summer would help him get more consistent game time.
Playing regularly is the key to developing, with experience so crucial at this stage of his career.
A move to a team in League One or lower down the Championship might be needed, as there are no guarantees he will be playing enough for QPR next year.
Cifuentes will want to run the rule over the young attacker this summer and it would be no surprise to see him part of the first team squad in pre-season but a loan move could follow before the window closes.
Steven Bala has been unable to break into the QPR first team squad just yet, and now is the time for the 20-year-old to look elsewhere for game time.
The youngster needs to be playing games and earning experience, so moving out on loan is a sensible next step in his career.
He has been unable to convince Cifuentes just yet that he should be with the first team squad, so going out on loan and performing well is his best best at proving to the Spaniard what he’s capable of.
The playmaker has performed well at youth level, but that will only get you so far at this age, and now he needs to go out there and prove he can translate that level of performance against senior players.
