It has been expected, throughout the summer, that Rayan Cherki (21) would leave formative club Olympique Lyonnais. With just two weeks remaining in the transfer window, that departure has not come to pass.

The Frenchman, who today returns from his holidays, following his participation in the recently-concluded Olympic Games in Paris, will not re-integrate the first-team set-up at Lyon, as per a report from L’Équipe. OL remain intent on selling Cherki, who has just one year remaining on his deal, as they look to raise €100m in player sales before the closure of the window.

Whilst Cherki’s move to Borussia Dortmund fell through, there is still interest from the Bundesliga, as well as Premier League clubs and reigning Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain. With the intention of selling Cherki in the coming days before the closure of the window, the academy product has been put in the “loft” and so he will not train with the first team, so as to avoid any potential injury. He will instead do individual training in order to regain his fitness.
