L’Équipe are reporting that despite interest from Chelsea, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and West Ham United, Rayan Cherki (20) will remain at Olympique Lyonnais this season.

Cherki has been highly sought-after this summer, but one more season at the Groupama Stadium now looks the most likely scenario. Paris Saint-Germain have made two moves to sign the Lyon youth product since the winter but to no avail. Les Parisiens, however, retain an interest in his teammate Bradley Barcola, whose departure cannot be ruled out.

Chelsea also made an attempt to sign Cherki during the European U21 Championships. The Lyon youth product shone during the tournament, despite France’s collective shortcomings. Other teams are still pushing to sign him towards the end of the season. Notably, Newcastle, Aston Villa and West Ham are all continuing in their attempts to sign Cherki, as the transfer deadline nears. However, the strong tendency is that he remains with his formative club for a further year.
