David Raya says he is hopeful that he will become an Arsenal player this summer following his loan spell at the club.

The Spanish shot-stopper is still contracted to Brentford but spent the past season on loan with the Gunners, where he won the Premier League Golden Glove award after keeping 16 clean sheets.

Raya appeared in Arsenal’s kit launch modelling the 2024/25 goalkeeper shirt earlier this month, hinting that he would be joining the club.

But speaking to the Daily Mail, Raya said: “It’s not up to me, the contract.

“It’s up to the club and to Mikel. If my performances have been good enough then hopefully they will offer me a long-term contract.

“I am just focused on the present. I don’t want to think too much about the future. I just want to focus on training and the game.

“Of course, I would love to be here next season and, if that’s the case, it would be amazing, a dream come true to sign for this club.”

Meanwhile, Gunners goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has been linked with a permanent move to Newcastle United after losing his starting spot to Raya this season.
