Raúl Gudiño insists there will be no quarter asked or given when Chivas host América in the Clásico Nacional on Sunday.

While the players from the opposing teams know each other well, the Chivas goalkeeper expects a ferocious battle in Mexican club football’s biggest clash.

“The rivalry will not go away over the years, that’s why it’s time to defend the shirt to the death,” Gudiño said, per the Flock’s official website.

“Later, I can meet [Sebastián] Córdova and I understand that he is my team-mate on the national team.

“I joke and tell him that they are not going to score [against] me, there is no point in being bad milk.

“The 90 minutes are played to death, but then we coincide with ‘El Tri’ and things change. First of all, we are professionals.”

Chivas have conceded 15 goals in their 10 league games to date, and Gudiño admitted Los Rojiblancos have been working hard to address their defensive frailties.

“The teams go through different stages,” he said.

“Last tournament, we kept several clean sheets. Today, we are working on specific errors so that they are not repeated.

“We know that we have faltered at set pieces, and we are focused on improving it.”

Gudiño has played every minute of the league season to date, conceding at least once in each game.
