Giacomo Raspadori and Giovanni Di Lorenzo thank Napoli fans for their support on the way to a ‘precious’ victory over Venezia. ‘We need to ride that wave of enthusiasm.’

This result puts the Partenopei joint top of the table with Atalanta on 41 points, although Inter are now right behind them with a game in hand.

Raspadori has been linked with a January exit from the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona due to the lack of playing time, but he made a huge impact when coming off the bench to snatch a late winner.

“I am very happy to be back on target and I know it seems like a cliché, but the support of the fans really is fundamental,” Raspadori told DAZN.

Napoli had 25 shots on goal this afternoon, forced several saves, hit the woodwork and Romelu Lukaku saw his penalty saved by Filip Stankovic.

“There were a few difficulties, but that makes the victory feel even more precious. Playing here certainly gives us an extra boost, we are working well, but the season is still long and we mustn’t get distracted.”

Raspadori had not found the net in the Napoli jersey since April and had been considered on the verge of the exit in January due to the lack of playing time.

Antonio Conte confirmed in his post-match interview that Raspadori is being used as a creative midfielder more than a striker.

“The atmosphere is always electrifying here and our fans are incredible, so we need to ride that wave of enthusiasm,” added captain Di Lorenzo to DAZN.

He too had been ready to leave Napoli over the summer, only to mend his tense rapport with the supporters.

“The past is the past. It is good that we end 2024 on top of the table, but we’ve done nothing yet and looking at the standings now is futile.

“I am really happy for Raspadori, as he works constantly every week and shows his support every time he sets foot on the field. We are all pushing to take Napoli back to the top, where this club belongs.”
