Rasmus Hojlund happy to see Liverpool lose 3-0 against Atalanta in the Europa League

Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund took to social media following Liverpool’s shock defeat to Atalanta.

I had one eye on the second half tonight as I got through work. Delighted to see Liverpool trailing 3-0 in stoppage time, I couldn’t help but admire the drive and determination of Gian Piero Gasperini’s side to see out the game without conceding a goal.

Of course, many of these were players Rasmus Hojlund would have shared the dressing room with last season. He would have been watching the game with more interest than us!

Former West Ham forward Gianluca Scamacca scored a brace as Mario Pasalic netted a third goal late on.

However, Hojlund took to Instagram to share his thoughts on a memorable win for his former club. He shared Atalanta’s post on his Instagram story, with the caption: “Mola mia,” which is a phrase often used in Bergamo.

Hojlund enjoyed a rise to stardom at the Serie A club, where he scored 10 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions. He completed a £72 million switch to United last summer before scoring five goals in the Champions League group stages for the Reds. Sadly, we didn’t have any European football to enjoy after crashing out of the competition early on.

The pressure will be on Liverpool to overturn the three-goal deficit in next Thursday’s return leg.

Liverpool fans were looking forward to the final in Dublin

It sounds like Liverpool fans were going into their tie against Atalanta feeling overly confident about reaching this year’s Europa League final. Now they can log onto their preferred hotels website, with their tails firmly between their legs, to cancel any overnight stays planned in Dublin this May.

I don’t think they will be required on May 22.

Heh!
