Barcelona forward Raphinha found himself torn between self-criticism and pride after the 3-3 draw against Inter Milan in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final.

The Brazilian played a key role in the match, assisting Ferran Torres and was also involved in scoring the third goal, though it was ultimately awarded as an own goal to Yann Sommer.

Reflecting on the match, Raphinha acknowledged the defensive lapses, especially conceding so many goals at home.

“Conceding so many goals at home is unacceptable, but we have to give credit to Inter, who are very strong in corners,” he admitted.

Despite the frustrating result, Raphinha was quick to focus on the positives, noting that the tie was still very much alive.

“Everything is in place for the return leg, which we will prepare well for; it is not the worst result,” he said.

Although he acknowledged the risks taken, especially in pursuit of the win, Raphinha said, “At home, we had to do it; we had to win.”

He also paid tribute to his teammate, Lamine Yamal, noting that the young star would likely have preferred a victory on his 100th match.

“I hit it hard at 3-3 and was lucky with the rebound,” he admitted, highlighting the luck involved in the equaliser.

“We came out sleepy and paid dearly for it, but the team reacted very well,” he said. Torres recognised the difficulty of coming back from a two-goal deficit and praised Inter Milan for their resilience.

“Coming back from two goals down is very difficult, and we have to give them credit.”

Torres also highlighted the importance of improving in certain areas before the return leg.

“A semi-final can be decided by a set piece, and we conceded two goals like that. We have to improve in the second leg in that regard because they’re very strong at home,” he noted.

As for his goal, he revealed that his celebration was inspired by his love for the NBA. “I tried to do my part with the goal, and the celebration is because I’m passionate about the NBA.”

When asked about Lamine Yamal, Torres commented, “He was motivated, you could see it, we all know what Lamine is.”
