Bayern Munich have completed the signing of Portuguese left-back Raphael Guerreiro on a three-year contract.

The 29-year-old left Borussia Dortmund as a free agent this summer and has accepted a deal to join the Bundesliga champions.

Guerreiro spent seven years at BVB and established himself as one of the best left-backs in Europe.

He showed his versatility by occasionally filling in as a box-to-box midfielder due to his brilliant football mind and tactical understanding.

Guerreiro made 36 appearances for Dortmund this season despite struggling with injuries, recording six goals and 14 assists.

Since moving to Dortmund, Guerreiro has scored 40 goals and assisted 50 more in 224 appearances for the club. He has won the DFB-Pokal twice and the DFL Supercup once.

The France-born defender put his name on the map at the 2016 European Championship, where he was one of the nominees for Young Player of the Tournament.

BVB snapped him up from Lorient, where he had spent three years featuring in 111 games. He bagged ten goals and eight assists for the Ligue 1 club.

Guerreiro joins Bayern, where he will link up with head coach Thomas Tuchel. The pair worked together at Dortmund.

The former Caen defender will provide cover for Alphonso Davies at left-back. The Canadian speedster dealt with a lot of niggling injuries this season.

Bayern brought in Joao Cancelo from Manchester City in January to provide cover at full-back.

But he failed to convince former Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann and current manager Tuchel and has returned to England.

The Bavarian giants continue to fight to sign Kyle Walker from City to replace wantaway Benjamin Pavard at right-back. However, City want to keep Walker.

Centre-back Lucas Hernandez has told Bayern he wants to leave. They are closing in on Napoli’s Kim Min-jae to replace him.
