Real Madrid defender Raphaël Varane has been ruled out of Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Chelsea through injury.

Varane was withdrawn at half-time during Saturday’s 2-0 win over Osasuna and MRI tests have since confirmed a problem with his “right abductor muscles”.

According to Marca, the 27-year-old has only been ruled out for ten days but will miss two crucial fixtures for Los Blancos, against Chelsea and Sevilla.

“After the tests carried out today on our player Raphaël Varane by Real Madrid Medical Services, he was diagnosed with an injury to the right abductor muscles,” read an official statement.

Real Madrid are already without Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vázquez and likely to miss Federico Valverde who is still recovering from coronavirus.
