After more than a decade with the French national team and winning the World Cup in 2018, Raphaël Varane (29) is reportedly considering retiring from international football – according to Le Parisien. At 29 years old, the player is reportedly facing physical and mental wear and tear. Additionally, it is also reported that Varane wants to spend more time with his family.

The Frenchman has already established an impressive track record, both with Real Madrid and the French national team, winning the World Cup and four Champions Leagues, among other accolades. However, he has also faced physical challenges, and he reportedly wants to take more time to recover during the season.

Despite his injuries, he was included in the French squad for the 2022 World Cup and played a crucial role in Les Bleus road towards the final. Ultimately, his decision to retire from international football may be influenced by the disappointment of losing the final against Argentina, and a desire to preserve his health and spend more time with his family.
