Speaking to Téléfoot this morning, Manchester United defender Raphaël Varane discussed his reasons for leaving Real Madrid after a decade in Spain, as well as his first impressions on arriving in England.
“I needed it, I think it’s something I was feeling on a personal level. I needed a new challenge, to experience new emotions. My time in Madrid was exceptional, above all expectations that had been set. I think I’m going into a new adventure now. It’ll push me to leave my comfort zone.”
“It’s going well, it’s a good group of guys. It’s young, and it’s dynamic. There’s really a spirit of camaraderie. I’m happy to be part of this squad.”
“There was a lot of emotion [at my unveiling] because I was given a great welcome, it will remain engraved in my memory. [Paul Pogba] has obviously helped me integrate, in his own particular way with his good humour, he’s always teasing. It’s cool, things are going well.”
“I speak a bit of English, but I still need to improve!”
