Ranking the five favourites to sign Harry Kane

Harry Kane faces a huge decision to make this summer with speculation continuing to surround the future of the England captain, Tottenham’s recent poor form raising suggestions he could look to leave north London in search of elusive silverware.

Jose Mourinho’s side have faltered following a strong start to the season and currently sit ninth in the Premier League, and whilst the Carabao Cup final in April provides an opportunity to end the club’s trophy drought, it remains to be seen whether that alone is enough to convince Kane to stay.

The 27-year-old would not come cheap but it’s unlikely he would find himself short of suitors, a record of 209 goals in 319 appearances for Spurs enough to attract admiring glances from Europe’s elite.

So for those of you looking for sure football bets today, we’ve decided to look at how the bookmakers view the race to sign Kane.

Here are the five favourites to sign the Spurs striker:

Barcelona – 18/1

Barcelona are heading towards a summer that could represent an overhaul at the Camp Nou, the club’s concerning financial situation and uncertainty surrounding Lionel Messi’s future dominating the headlines in Catalonia.

Messi is expected to walk away from the club at the end of his contract and the departure of the club’s greatest ever player will leave a huge void to fill, the winner of March’s presidential elections sure to want a marquee name to replace the Argentine should he depart.

Kane would certainly fit that bill with the forward having twice won the Premier League’s Golden Boot during a prolific spell with Spurs, climbing to second amongst the north Londoner’s all-time leading scorers earlier in the campaign.

Kane has more than three years remaining on his current contract and given Barcelona’s dire financial situation a deal appears unfeasible without significant changes this summer.

Paris Saint-Germain – 16/1

Paris Saint-Germain are ranked as 16/1 odds to sign Kane, with the Parisian side having been linked with a move for the forward since the appointment of former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino at the Parc des Princes.

Kylian Mbappe’s future remains uncertain with just over a year on his deal and should the superstar leave this summer then PSG will surely be at the front of the queue to prise Kane from north London.

PSG have dominated domestically over the past decade and would provide Kane with an ideal environment to win silverware, with the French champions perennial contenders to reach the Champions League’s latter stages in recent years.

Should Kane decide on a venture away from the Premier League, he may well feel tempted by a reunion with the manager under who he enjoyed the best years of his career to date.

Real Madrid – 14/1

Spanish football’s big two have often plucked the Premier League’s leading lights in modern times, names such as Eden Hazard, Luis Suarez and Gareth Bale amongst those to have swapped England’s top tier for the superpowers in Madrid and Barcelona.

Real Madrid have long held interest in the game’s brightest talents and Kane is arguably amongst the best number nines in world football right now, but like their aforementioned La Liga rivals are not the financial powerhouse of previous years.

Recent reports estimated the club’s debt at €901m and securing the signing of Kane, who would likely command a fee in excess of £100m, appears difficult for the Spanish side at present.

Former Spurs and Real defender Jonathan Woodgate recently urged Kane to make the move should it become available, but finances are likely to hinder the chances of the forward becoming the latest Galactico paraded at the Bernabeu.

Manchester United – 10/1

Manchester United have been routinely linked with a move for Kane and are understood to be in the market for a new centre-forward this summer, Edinson Cavani’s future remaining uncertain and Anthony Martial continuing to blow hot and cold.

Kane would represent the sort of signing that could take the Red Devils to the next level, the prospect of the England captan leading the line ahead of the phenomenal Bruno Fernandes one that will surely excite the Old Trafford support.

Kane has shown an evolving side to his game this season in dropping deep before picking passes for forward runners, with United possessing the inside forwards in Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood who would relish the sort of service the star can provide.

United, however, have not won a major trophy in any of the past three seasons and it remains to be seen whether Kane would view Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side as the right step towards winning silverware.

Manchester City – 3/1

Manchester City are racing towards a third Premier League title in four seasons after opening up a comfortable advantage at the top of the division, Pep Guardiola’s side in imperious form to reestablish themselves as England’s finest.

City’s success this season has come without a guaranteed source of goals in attack, however, with midfielder Ilkay Gundogan leading the club’s charge following a career-best run of form.

Gabriel Jesus has scored just four league goals and Sergio Aguero’s season has been disrupted by a combination of injury and illness, in what could prove the Argentine’s final season of a glittering career at the Etihad.

The 32-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and, having done without him for much of the campaign, the club could view this summer as the right time to say goodbye to their all-time record goalscorer.

Aguero has scored a staggering 256 goals in all competitions and will leave a huge void, though there are few replacements on the continent as ready-made as Kane.
