Aaron Ramsdale’s future appears away from Arsenal after losing his place as the club’s number one goalkeeper.

The arrival of David Raya from Brentford has seen Ramsdale drop to second choice and the 25-year-old is expected to move on in the summer to keep alive his England ambitions.

Unlikely to be short of offers, we’ve looked at the bookmakers’ five favourites to sign Aaron Ramsdale from Arsenal.

Leeds – 16/1

Leeds have been linked with offering the Sheffield native a route back to Yorkshire, despite boasting the best defensive record in the Championship this season. Illan Meslier leads the second-tier for clean sheets, though Ramsdale could be viewed as an upgrade on the Frenchman who has often combined superb shot-stopping with rash moments.

Any deal would hinge on whether Daniel Farke’s side earn promotion to the Premier League this season.

Nottingham Forest – 12/1

Nottingham Forest have gone through goalkeepers at a rapid rate since returning to the Premier League. After Dean Henderson and Keylor Navas shared custody of the club’s following promotion, Forest went and signed Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos to compete for the number one spot last summer.

Neither convinced at the City Ground, leading to the £5m arrival of Matz Sels in January. Another arrival could materialise in the summer and Ramsdale is reportedly on the radar of Nuno Espirito Santo’s side. However, like Leeds, interest will depend on which division Forest find themselves in.

West Ham – 7/1

After several seasons with Lukasz Fabianski in goal, David Moyes changed his number one last summer with Alphonse Areola handed an overdue run at West Ham. The Frenchman’s shot-stopping has impressed behind a leaky West Ham defence, whose 63 goals are the fourth-highest in the division and most outside the relegation places.

However, with Fabianski now 39, a replacement is required sooner rather than later. Ramsdale would also boost the homegrown quota at West Ham, with doubts over several of the club’s current contingent. Danny Ings, Conor Coventry, Michail Antonio and Ben Johnson could all leave the London Stadium, alongside the on-loan Kalvin Phillips.

Chelsea – 4/1

Chelsea continue to be linked with a cross-capital raid on Arsenal for Ramsdale, with a goalkeeper and centre-forward expected to be on the agenda in the summer. The west Londoners signed Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic last summer and the latter has since usurped the former as first choice.

Ramsdale offers an interesting option to join the goalkeeping ranks, however, and could be open to joining Chelsea’s project. The Blues have struggled this season, but boast the second-youngest side in the Premier League.

Newcastle – 2/1

Newcastle are another team likely to be in the market for a goalkeeper after Nick Pope was ruled out for the majority of the current campaign. Martin Dubravka has deputised after returning from a loan spell at Manchester United, though is 35 and enters the final 12 months of his deal in the summer.

Ramsdale would offer a long-term option in goal and is seven years Pope’s junior. With a strong English contingent at St James’ Park, it could be a switch that suits the shot-stopper.
