The new year is well under way and Christmas is a hazy memory of shredded wrapping paper and over-eating, but the unrelenting Premier League calendar has scarcely slowed down.
After a full round of midweek fixtures for gameweek 20 had brought the familiar thrills, spills devoid of nil-nils, the division's players were shunting back in to the spotlight, forcing their ever-more weary limbs through the fury of a top-flight contest. This understandable fatigue gave way to a glut of late goals, with seven scored on or after the 89th minute across the ten fixtures.
Here are the players that managed to keep on ploughing forward in this unforgiving schedule.

Just five days earlier, Trevoh Chalobah was still technically a Crystal Palace player. Yet, on Monday night, the Chelsea academy graduate made his second homecoming in impressive fashion. Commanding when called upon and only robbed of a memorable goal by teammate Noni Madueke, Chalobah emphatically justified Enzo Maresca's description of his return as "the best solution".

The game may have ended with Leandro Trossard cursing the shot he dragged wide, but the Belgian had strayed fractionally offside in the closing stages of Arsenal's frustrating 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday. If anyone in red had deserved to strike a winner, it would have been the punchy winger, who set up both goals which afforded the hosts a 2-0 advantage with just half and hour left to play.

Kylian Mbappe, Raphinha, Luis Diaz, Lautaro Martinez. The list of elite players with fewer goals than Nottingham Forest's reliably prolific Chris Wood is a long and illustrious one. Only six individuals across Europe's top five leagues can better the Kiwi's tally of 14 for the season, a haul which he bolstered with the third in a 3-2 victory over Southampton on Sunday afternoon to extend Forest's unbeaten run to eight games and move them level on points with second-placed Arsenal.
Darwin Nunez came off the bench to score twice on Saturday / Ryan Pierse/GettyImages
"One of the things I would like us to do better is to have a late winner," Arne Slot mused ahead of his Liverpool side's trip to Brentford. Ask and you shall receive.Darwin Nunez emerged off the bench to scathing chants from the home fans and left with a stoppage-time brace to secure a cathartic 2-0 victory. The Uruguayan has been pilliored for his performances this season - and did double his tally for the entire campaign in the space of three second-half minutes - but was in the right place at the right time to strike two crucial goals at the Gtech. If Slot is pining for late winners, Nunez is his man. Only one player (Sadio Mane) in Liverpool history has ever scored more Premier League goals after the 90th minute than the divisive forward.
Phil Foden scored twice for Man City in a 6-0 thumping of Ipswich Town / Alex Pantling/GettyImages
Sometimes, you just need a bit of luck. Phil Foden had to wait until his 30th shot of the season to score his first Premier League goal of the campaign. The reigning PFA Player of the Year has since racked up five goals from 12 top-flight attempts.Foden scored twice in the first half of a 6-0 battering of Ipswich Town on Sunday afternoon as City - and their star midfielder - belatedly began to resemble their all-conquering selves.
Justin Kluivert had a day to remember at St James' Park / Visionhaus/GettyImages
In the space of one blissful, blistering afternoon, Justin Kluivert racked up more Premier League goals at St James' Park (3) than his revered father Patrick managed during an entire season playing for Newcastle United (1)."That is one win over him," the younger Kluivert beamed when that stat was put to him post-game.The Bournemouth forward's treble on Saturday, his second of the season away from home, was another huge step towards moving out of his father's suffocating shadow. "I followed Newcastle when I was younger," Justin reflected after scoring with three crisp finishes. "Unfortunately for them, Kluivert now plays for another team."
