Claudio Ranieri has set himself a new objective after giving back new life to the likes of Leandro Paredes and Mats Hummels.

As reported by Corriere della Sera, the veteran technician now intends to focus all his energy on getting the best out of Mario Hermoso.

The Spanish defender has so far struggled to adapt to his new surroundings.

Despite featuring several times in Ivan Juric’s line-up, the feeling between the two never blossomed and Hermoso was ultimately ruled out for over a month with an injury shortly after Roma’s 5-1 debacle to Fiorentina.

To the rumors that Real Madrid are interested in him, he responded with an openness that casts doubt on his long-term permanence – he has signed a three-year contract – in the capital.

Ranieri will try to make him change his mind: the coach sent him onto the pitch in the final minutes of the match against Lecce, but as the days go by his playing time is destined to increase, starting from Thursday night with Sporting Braga.
