Transfer News: Ralf Rangnick keen to bring four current and former Red Bull stars to Manchester United

According to reports (h/t The Daily Mail), interim manager, Ralf Rangnick is keen to bring in four of his former players to Manchester United as he seeks to leave a mark at the Theatre of Dreams.

The 63-year-old is yet to take over but it is only a matter of time before he is seen in the dugout. The Red Devils already have a solid squad at their disposal. The right additions in January can ensure Man United still end the season on a high.

Having served as the sporting director roles at RB Leipzig, RB Salzburg and Lokomotiv Moscow, the German has seen a number of top young players rise through the ranks under his tutelage.

As per BILD (h/t The Daily Mail), Rangnick is keen to reunite with former RB Salzburg hotshot Erling Haaland at Old Trafford. Now firing all cylinders at Borussia Dortmund, the Norwegian is one of the best young talents in world football.

Rangnick shares a good relationship with the player’s father, Alf-Inge Haaland and it will hopefully help the Red Devils in stealing a march in the transfer race. With Edinson Cavani potentially set to leave, Cristiano Ronaldo not getting any younger and Anthony Martial proving woefully inconsistent, Man United could do with an infallible scorer who can lead the line for years.

Haaland can certainly be that man for the Red Devils. Just 21, he has developed an addiction to finding the back of the net. There are few better players in world football than the Norwegian to fulfil any of Man United’s goal-scoring requirements upfront.

The inside scoop!

He is not, however, the only striker on Rangnick’s wishlist. Misfiring Chelsea ace Timo Werner is also on the German manager’s radar. The duo worked together at RB Leipzig and Rangnick is well aware of the player’s potential.

The striker looks a pale shadow of himself at Chelsea and could do with a change of scenery. Whether that will be to Old Trafford remains to be seen.

Rangnick is also planning a double swoop of his former side, Leipzig and has his eyes set on Christopher Nkunku and Amadou Haidara. Both players have come into their own this season and look ready to take the next step in their development.

While the quality of the players in question is not in doubt, their young ages add further gravitas to their recruitment. Haaland is 21, Werner is 25, Haidara 23 and Nkunku 24. All of them are yet to enter their prime and could potentially enjoy their best years in football at Old Trafford.

Whether Rangnick can work his magic can bring the quartet to the club remains to be seen.
