Manchester United are wrapping up their disastrous Premier League campaign this afternoon, with Ralf Rangnick’s side making the trip to face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Soon-to-be boss Erik ten Hag is in attendance and was pictured arriving at the stadium, with the 53-year-old believed to be unveiled as soon as on Monday.

Victory over Patrick Vieira’s side is enough for United to seal Europa League qualification but should they drop points and West Ham win their game against Brighton, the Old Trafford club will be competing in the Europa Conference League next year.

There were several notable absentees in the squad, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Raphael Varane all among the players to miss out on a place.

Speaking ahead of the game, Rangnick confirmed Cavani will be making his final appearance for the club, with the Uruguayan set to depart this summer upon the expiry of his contract.

“It would be good to finish this season with a good game, three points, and I’m pretty sure the team sees it the same way,” Rangnick told MUTV, via the official Manchester United website.

“Out of our starting XI, there will be 10, apart from Edi Cavani, who will still be playing for this club next season. I presume they’d much rather play in the Europa League than the Conference League.”

SN’s verdict… Cavani has become an increasingly frustrating figure at Manchester United this season and after ending his first campaign in such stellar fashion, very few could have seen this coming.

The 35-year-old didn’t make his first start until October and has amassed just 15 appearances overall, with just two goals scored in 19 appearances across all competitions.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s late arrival certainly didn’t help his cause but his alarmingly low availability has been a real cause for concern, with the club now believed to be looking for a young striker to take his place.
