Rangers Women double SWPL lead, Glasgow City beat Celtic | OneFootball

Rangers battled to a 2-1 ScottishPower Women’s Premier League win at Aberdeen, Glasgow City edged Celtic with a first-minute goal.

Rangers lead the league by six points following their win at Aberdeen and Glasgow City’s single-goal success over second-placed Celtic. Fiona Brown scored after only 15 seconds for City, Rachel Rowe bagged a brace for Rangers but Bayley Hutchison pulled one back for the Dons.

Hibernian put five past Motherwell to stay fourth, aided by two goals in the opening two minutes. Jorian Baucom and Eilidh Adams went on to get doubles, while Hibs keeper Nina Wilson made a double save at 2-0 from Bailey Collins’ penalty.

Hearts stayed fifth when edging Spartans with a Katie Lockwood volley, Partick Thistle still goal-difference behind them despite conceding first at Montrose. Jade McLaren’s opener was cancelled out by Clare Docherty and Cara Henderson netted the decider.

Hamilton Academical are now just three points adrift at the bottom, after a first win of the season at Dundee United. Josephine Giard got the Accies ahead,  United’s Abbie Cusack put the ball in the net at either end, with Chloe Muir and Mason Clark scoring to seal the victory.

SWPL 2 – all 2pm KO

Kilmarnock 2-1 Boroughmuir Thistle St Johnstone 2-0 Livingston Stirling University 1-2 Gartcairn Queen’s Park 5-1 Glasgow Women

Queen’s Park opened up a ten-point lead at the top when defeating Glasgow Women 5-1. Livingston slipped to third after losing out at St Johnstone, Kilmarnock climbed to second with victory over Boroughmuir Thistle. Gartcairn won the basement battle at Stirling University, to move within a point of them.
