We had to laugh at Ibrox Noise at two ‘exclusives’ we’ve seen in the Rangers press of late, with both stories being 100% fiction and completely made up.
First was the story that the Belgian FA can’t afford to ‘sign’ Philippe Clement, and the second was that Ajax are interested in Ryan Kent.
Both of these tales are absolute fantasy, and to suggest they are conjecture at best is in itself generous.
The Belgian FA story first of all – the headline claims the leaders at the Red Devils won’t be making a move for Rangers boss Clement because they can’t afford the compensation. The source? A journalist. That’s it. Not someone from inside their FA, not someone with access to their current accounts, but a journalist who just ‘decided’ that they can’t afford him.
The second one was even worse, and that’s saying something. Effectively that Dutch colossi Ajax were making a move on ex-Rangers and Fenerbahce winger Ryan Kent, a free agent these days.
This is even more ridiculous fabrication. There is absolutely no suggestion anywhere Ajax even know Kent exists, far less that they want to sign him – the entire story came from, again, the European press and some journo saying why Ajax should be looking at him. AKA a player ‘suggestion’ story, and no more.
Yes, even when someone is no longer part of Rangers, the clickbait press find some way to bring our name into essentially a completely baseless story just for the hits.
It really did amuse us, that the Belgian FA can’t afford Clement according to a journalist, while Ajax are about to sign Kent to tear up the Eredivisie.
Ibrox Noise would never claim that we hold a monopoly on the truth – we get source information and sometimes it’s inaccurate. Few other outlets ever admit they get things wrong. But we always tell it honestly, and we never package up conjecture stories as anything factual.
But then, we can’t deign how readers will interpret our content.
Que sera.
