Rangers’ two new signings arrive at Ibrox to start work

So after all the hoo hah of yesterday’s latest Old Firm defeat, this time for silverware, we return to ‘normal’ domestic life with our ailing Rangers, and today being the 16th of the month sees two new signings arrive at the club.

Yes, new CEO Patrick Stewart began work this morning alongside Fraser Thornton, our new chairman.

Rangers, in their wisdom, decided not to have either begin work before the Spurs Celtic double header and instead waited for fans to rage at a potential Old Firm final loss before the pair took their positions.

Of course they were really counting on Rangers getting the crown on Sunday and paving the way for a fanfare of both men taking up their residences, but with yet another loss to the green lot, they’ll quietly just start.

Rangers have lacked a corporate structure for a long time, and we can safely say much Googling was done by us as much as you lot when Rangers’ interest in Stewart came to light, and when the club announced the new chairman completely out of the blue.

All we know about Stewart is what we’ve published in recent weeks, while Thornton is said to be a lifelong Rangers fan (a positive of course) and experienced in business, having transferred from Scottish golf’s counterposition.

What difference does it make having these men?

We will find out in time if things start to improve off the field (and on it) but we will pass no judgement other than observing, as we did before, that Stewart’s CEO stewardship at Utd was hardly a boastful success.

All we can do as onlookers is hope these two men are the right stuff to steer Rangers in the correct direction because that’s seemed to be beyond everyone else the past 12 years.
