Rangers will honour their veteran goalkeeper Allan McGregor with a testimonial match against Newcastle United this summer.
The match will take place at Ibrox on Tuesday 18 July, with a percentage of the proceeds from the match going to charities nominated by McGregor.
The 41-year-old has made 499 appearances for Rangers across two spells, and will play his landmark 500th game if he is selected to face Dundee United on Saturday, becoming the first player since Ally McCoist to reach that milestone with the club.
A Scotland international, he has lifted four Scottish titles with the club, along with nine domestic cups.
Rangers’ Managing Director, Stewart Robertson said: “Allan’s contribution, across two spells at the club was recognised with his induction into the prestigious Rangers Hall of Fame, at the recent gala dinner in Edmiston House.
“Allan is a true Rangers great. I have no doubt our fans will savour the Newcastle Utd testimonial match. It’ll be an evening many thousands will be able to go to Ibrox to salute and applaud Allan’s remarkable service to Rangers.”
McGregor’s testimonial will be Rangers’ first since legendary defender John Brown was honoured in a match against Anderlecht back in 2001.
