Rangers: 'Skilful' 63-goal star would be 'exciting signing' at Ibrox
GiveMeSport
Rangers target Tom Lawrence would be an “exciting signing” for the Ibrox club, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The Wales international is out of contract at Derby and Giovanni van Bronckhorst is hoping to sign him on a free transfer.
According to the Daily Mail, West Brom are leading the race to sign the attacker, but they are facing stiff competition from several Championship sides, including Sheffield United and Watford.
Rangers are also in the running to sign Lawrence, who’s set to end his five-year stay with the Rams following their relegation to League One last season.
Despite being unable to save Wayne Rooney’s side from relegation, the 28-year-old enjoyed a fine campaign on a personal level, which could seal him a move to Ibrox on a free transfer.
Lawrence has scored an impressive 63 goals during his career, with the majority coming in the Championship, but he’s never played outside of England.

Regardless, O’Rourke reckons he would be an exciting piece of business for Van Bronckhorst to complete.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think he would be an exciting signing for Rangers, especially on a free transfer.
“There’s not many better free transfers around if you’re looking at the players available. Tom Lawrence is a skilful player.”

Lawrence might have captained Derby to relegation, but it wasn’t for his best efforts. According to WhoScored, he was the club’s third-best player with a rating of 6.86.
He scored 11 goals and laid on five assists for his teammates, with those 16 goal contributions meaning he was directly involved in 35.5 per cent of their Championship goals.
But it wasn’t just goals and assists where Lawrence made his mark. The ex-Leicester ace led the way with almost every other attacking statistic, taking the most shots (2.4) and making most key passes (1.4) every time he took to the pitch, while only two players in the Derby squad made more average dribbles.
Rangers don’t exactly lack creativity, scoring more than 120 goals across all competitions last term, 80 of which came in the Scottish Premiership, but Lawrence would only add to an already-impressive attacking contingent of players.
