Rangers secure 2nd-highest sale for a decade | OneFootball

Rangers have reportedly made their joint-biggest sale since Nikola Jelavic after selling George Edmundson not to Peterborough, as reports believed, but to Ipswich, for a fee of £1.5M.

The 23-year old defender was close to a move to Barry Fry’s Posh, but they baulked at the transfer fee and Ipswich have moved in instead, securing the former Oldham man.

As for biggest transfer fee, Jelavic of course went for around £5M even if the club saw none of that cash, and the only other fee over a million that Rangers have sold for since 2012 is Josh Windass at the same price Edmundson is headed for.

It only highlights how poorly Rangers have done in the transfer sales department that Edmundson, surplus, will go for the second highest fee the club has sold for in a decade.

But equally it shows a hell of a profit for the £300,000 Rangers paid for him.

In the end, he had no impact on Ibrox, Steven Gerrard didn’t rate him, and he’s going to move on – it’s ended up being a nice little earner for the club.

Edmundson carried himself well, and did what he could, but he was simply not good enough.
