Rangers ‘reject’ bid for striker as buyer looks elsewhere

Burnley definitely aren’t signing Fashion Sakala after Vincent Kompany made a deal instead with Southampton for Nathan Tella on loan.

Which means the strange stories which surround Rangers’ relatively out of favour, and dare we say it, out of ‘fashion’ forward will probably continue.

First a pile of Ligue French sides were after him, on loan, curiously enough, and then a Belgian legend in the shape of the former Man City captain was said to be interested in bidding £3M.

And for a Bosman who hasn’t really delivered at Ibrox, this is a great deal, but there was word this bid wasn’t enough and Rangers had rejected it.

Good old transfermarkt claims his market value is around £4M+, and for a Zambia international with a fairly admittedly decent record and CV we’d probably agree, but equally, he’s not a vital component of Gio’s Rangers and is yet to even be used as a sub this campaign.

The Sakala stuff is weird. Quite honestly we’re not that sure why we signed him – obviously the scouts’ job is to unearth hidden gems, and after securing Ianis Hagi and Kemar Roofe from the Belgian market, Rangers, under Steven Gerrard, went back in for more from the Jupiler Pro.

But Sakala hasn’t really made it, and he’s clearly not happy about it.

Whatever happens next we’ll wait and see, but we can’t see the former Oostende man having a big role this season if he stays at Ibrox.
