Following Hearts’ entertaining win over Hibernian, another massive rivalry took center stage in the Scottish Cup semi-finals.

It was a fairly open affair at Hampden Park as Celtic and Rangers attempted to get control of the match. Jota and Aaron Ramsey, in particular, were shining for their respective sides.

However, despite a handful of attempts at either end of the pitch convincing opportunities were scarce. John Lundstram had the best chance of the first half but his effort hit the woodwork leaving things deadlocked at halftime.

Unfortunately for Rangers, they were also forced to substitute Ramsey due to injury.

The atmosphere continued to be tense after the break and Celtic were the side who made the most of their one opportunity when it arrived as Greg Taylor’s strike deflected in for 1-0.

But substitutes would energize Rangers when Scott Arfield leveled things up after only three minutes of action and sent the match into extra time.

The next 30 minutes continued to be an entertaining contest with both sides falling just short of taking control of the game and the ball hit the woodwork yet again.

It looked as if penalties would decide the game until a counter-attack from Rangers resulted in Carl Starfelt turning the ball into his own net seeing Celtic’s treble dreams crushed.

Rangers will now meet Hearts in the final.
