Rangers have set their sights on Liverpool midfielder Herbie Kane in January, Football Insider understands.
The Glasgow giants failed in an approach for the 21-year-old in the summer but are ready to reignite their interest in the upcoming transfer window.
Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that Kane is on their radar as Steven Gerrard looks to strengthen in the middle of the pitch ahead of the team’s all-out title assault.
Liverpool are set to listen to offers for Kane in January, as first revealed by Football Insider last month.
Rangers will need to offload some of their back-up midfielders to create space in their squad and on their wage bill for Kane, with the likes of Andy King and Greg Docherty among those in the firing line to leave.
Kane will certainly be in demand after showing promise in central midfield in Liverpool’s youngest-ever side on Tuesday night, when they lost 5-0 to Aston Villa.
It was the youngster’s second senior appearance for the Merseysiders and came after he shone last season for League One outfit Doncaster Rovers, where he started 39 league matches among 49 appearances in all competitions.
The England youth international caught the eye by directly contributing to 17 goals from midfield, made up of seven goals and 10 assists.
Gerrard has previously raided his former club to snap up Ryan Kent, Ovie Ejaria and Sheyi Ojo on temporary deals before completing the £7.5million late-summer permanent signing of Kent.
Football Insider revealed in the summer that Rangers made an approach to take Kane on loan, while there was also interest from Swansea City and Hull City as well as multiple League One and League Two clubs.
In other Rangers news, it can be REVEALED that the club have landed a SENSATIONAL near-£20million windfall.
