Rangers are open to selling Alfredo Morelos this summer if they cannot agree a new contract with their star striker, 90min understands.

The Colombian enjoyed another productive goalscoring season in 2021/22, netting 19 times across all competitions. He also chipped in with a handy eight assists.

However, while he is a key member of Giovanni van Bronkhorst's side, Morelos' current contract expires in less than a year and consequently his future at Ibrox is uncertain.

Sources have told 90min that talks are ongoing between the club and the forward's representatives over a new contract, but if Rangers cannot find a satisfactory agreement then they will attempt to shift the player as soon as possible rather than let him run down the final 12 months of his deal.

90min understands that La Liga big-hitters Sevilla are among those to have expressed an interest in Morelos, while he is also attracting attention from Turkey. As it stands, no offers are forthcoming from England despite previous links to the likes of Newcastle, West Ham, Brighton, Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa - where the striker would be reunited with Steven Gerrard.

Rangers have begun sounding out replacements as they face up to losing their frontman for a cut price. Young Villa forward Cameron Archer and Norwegian free agent Erik Botheim are among those being considered.

Archer scored 11 times while on loan with Preston North End in the second half of last season, while Botheim had been in prolific form for Bodo/Glimt before joining and swiftly leaving Russian side Krasnodar following the outbreak of war in Ukraine.
