Rangers were held to a 1-1 draw on Saturday at Ibrox as a last-minute equaliser from Hearts prevented them from moving further clear at the top of the table.

John Lundstram opened the scoring with a sublime long-range effort, but Craig Halkett’s late header ensured that Hearts came away with a point.

Steven Gerrard’s side remain top of the Premiership with 20 points after nine games, as they sit four points ahead of Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic.

One player who let Gerrard down against Hearts and contributed to the club’s failure to win was centre-forward Alfredo Morelos. The striker had a difficult afternoon as he struggled throughout the match, both off and on the ball in the game.

Offensively, he was far too wasteful. Per SofaScore, he had a whopping seven efforts on goal without forcing a single save from the goalkeeper. Four of his shots went off target and the other three were blocked by Hearts defenders, with one block coming in the second-half as Joe Aribo slipped him in behind and the Colombian took a second too long to get his shot off – allowing the defender to come across and stop him.

It is worth adding that he created five chances for his teammates, showing glimpses of the quality he possesses – although he ended the game without an assist. However, his creativity did not excuse his terrible shooting and lack of conviction in front of goal, given that he was Rangers’ starting number nine tasked with scoring the goals.

Off the ball, he was a lightweight. Per SofaScore, he lost 70% (7/10) of his duels on the pitch, as he lost four out of six on the ground and three out of four in the air. He also committed two fouls as he completed one tackle and failed to make any interceptions, showing how he was little help defensively for the Gers.

Therefore, he let Gerrard down with his performance as he wasted key opportunities to win the game for Rangers and was a liability in the physical side of the game. The ex-Liverpool player and coach will surely be hoping for better from the forward when the Gers face Brondby in the Europa League on Thursday.
