Rangers maintained their close proximity to Celtic in the SPFL title race after a pulsating Glasgow derby.
Scorers: Tavernier (PEN) 55′, Sima 86′, Matondo 90+3′; Maeda 1′, O’Riley (PEN) 34′, Idah 87′
The visitors took an early lead as James Tavernier’s attempted clearance rebounded off Daizen Maeda after just 21 seconds at Ibrox.
Matt O’Riley doubled their advantage by wrongfooting Jack Butland from the penalty spot following a handball by Conor Goldson.
Philippe Clement’s side were handed a lifeline early in the second half as Fábio Silva won a penalty from which James Tavernier halved the deficit.
They appeared to have levelled when Cyriel Dessers bundled home an equaliser but the goal was chalked off after a VAR review for a foul in the build-up.
A chaotic finale saw Abdallah Sima first equalise for the Gers before Adam Idah restored the balance of power for Brendan Rodgers’ reigning champions.
But Rabbi Matondo had the final say in the third minute of added time with a sublime dipping effort from inside the penalty area to salvage a point for the hosts.
Celtic remain a point clear of Rangers, who still have a game in hand, ahead of the league’s traditional end of season split.
