Rangers are intensifying efforts to sign Crystal Palace’s promising winger Jesurun Rak‑Sakyi, though they face stiff competition from English clubs amid a £10m valuatuion
That's according to the Athletic who claim that coach Russell Martin is keen to bolster his squad ahead of the Champions League qualifiers and has earmarked the 22‑year‑old as a potential key addition.
Rak‑Sakyi, a former Chelsea youth graduate, impressed during loan spells—first at Charlton Athletic, where he scored 15 goals in 43 appearances, and subsequently at Sheffield United, contributing seven goals in 35 Championship outings.
However, Rangers’ ambitions may be thwarted if Palace insist on a permanent transfer and full fee, reportedly placing the player’s value between £8m and £10m.
Wolves, fresh from receiving a windfall from Matheus Cunha’s £62.5m move to Manchester United, have also entered the race, and Southampton have emerged as keen suitors in the Championship.
For Rangers, time is of the essence. Martin has already overseen six summer signings, including Max Aarons and Lyall Cameron, as the club prepares for early-season European fixtures. While Martin prefers a player with proven character, he remains realistic about the financial realities at Ibrox. As Football Insider noted, “Southampton are considering” making a move, which may significantly hinder Rangers’ chances.
Should Rangers secure Rak‑Sakyi on favourable terms—be it a loan or a reduced permanent fee—they would land a highly rated winger poised to make an impact. For now, though, they are chained to negotiations not just with Palace, but also in a broader battle for his signature.
