The report claims that they would be willing to let him go back out on loan or leave on a permanent basis as they deem him to be surplus to requirements.

Axe him

Van Bronckhorst must brutally axe Itten from his squad by pushing the club to sell him instead of allowing him to leave on a temporary deal again.

Loaning him out would only be delaying the inevitable and could potentially cost them a percentage of his wages each week, whereas selling him would allow them to completely forget about the dud. This is why the head coach must push for the latter, as the last few months suggest that he has no chance of making his way back into the first-team fold in Glasgow.

He was brought back to Ibrox in January after a loan spell in Germany with Greuther Furth to bolster van Bronckhorst’s options at the top end of the pitch but failed to prove his worth. In four Premiership appearances this season, he has failed to contribute directly to a single goal and has lost a whopping 73% of his duels – showing that he has been a liability on and off the ball for the Gers.

Journalist Mark McDougall questioned the club’s sporting director in January and named the centre-forward as one of his failures, Tweeting: “At some point the signings under Ross Wilson need to start being questioned. What players can be deemed a success that he’s signed? Hagi, Roofe, Balogun. Maybe Bassey? Likes of Itten, Lundstram, Wright, Simpson all let downs and jury out on a few others.”

How well do you know Morelos? First... who did he score his 100th goal against?

St Mirren Aberdeen Hearts Hibernian

His statistics this term for Rangers suggest that McDougall’s assessment is accurate, as the forward has been given little game time and been unable to force the issue when he has been on the pitch. He has flopped badly and serious action must be taken.

The attacker is reportedly on £14k-per-week and that money is going to waste as he is not contributing on the pitch for van Bronckhorst. This is why the head coach must brutally axe him on a permanent basis and not allow him to leave on loan for another season.
