Rangers do their bit – it’s over to you, Kilmarnock

Rangers might have taken a while to get going at Ibrox, but the floor is now Derek McInnes and Kilmarnock’s, with a slim hope the fourth-place side can take all 3 points and take the title to a definitive final day.

Rangers, after an admittedly dreadful opening 45 minutes in which they trailed 1-2 at half time with a quick-fire double from Dundee over two minutes, Rangers notably improved following Dessers’ equaliser and subsequently found themselves on easy street rattling in another three.

It wasn’t the 6-0 or so we kind of needed, but it closed the goal difference down a speck at least, with it being a deficit now of 4.

It means while we wouldn’t say the ‘pressure’ is on Celtic, it slightly is – Rangers did more or less what we had to do, and now Celtic travel to their bogey ground to face a side in rampant form who rarely lose.

Of course, Celtic only need one point, just a draw, but Killie have previous for beating the Old Firm on their own patch, and should Celtic trip up there, it sets things up for a very interesting final fixture day.

Rangers would have to go to Hearts and score 3 goals without reply, depending on the score at Rugby Park, while Celtic, naturally, would still just need that point – but if they were to shock lose v St Mirren, then it would be a staggering turnaround.

But this is getting ahead of ourselves – Rangers, for now, have done their bit – scored a fair few goals, closed the GD, and all eyes are now on Rugby Park to see if McInnes can take another scalp at home.

It’s not impossible.
