Rangers dominated in the early exchanges, with their corner count into double figures after just 30 minutes, but it was the home side that took the lead just before half-time.

Van Bronckhorst’s men had kept the ball for 74% of the time in the first 45 minutes, but for all of the possession couldn’t find the breakthrough.

Things went from bad to worse for Rangers when Nicky Clark, who finished superbly well with the outside of his boot from an awkward angle to put the home side 2-0 to the good.

Rangers pulled one back with 15 minutes to play thanks to a finish from just outside the box from James Tavernier.

Despite their best efforts, they couldn’t mount a comeback and suffered another tough defeat.
