Chris Sutton has sent a cheeky message to Rangers fans travelling to Seville for Wednesday’s Europa League final against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Following appeals from Graeme Souness, Ian Durrant and Richard Gough for Rangers fans to behave themselves in Spain, Celtic legend Sutton couldn’t resist getting in on the act – albeit with his tongue firmly in his cheek.

Rangers, competing in their first European final since 2008, take on Eintracht Frankfurt at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium and there are clearly concerns about supporter behaviour.

In a series of video messages recorded by several former players, Rangers fans have been asked to stay out of trouble in Andalusia.

Under the caption: “Remember who you represent. Stay safe and enjoy the party. #UEL”, Souness said: “Hi guys, this is a message for everyone going to Seville. Go there, have a super time, support your team.

“Our team has done incredibly well in getting there, when you think the journey we’ve been on for the last 10 years to be now playing in a serious European cup final, it’s a fantastic achievement. They’ve done their bit, now it’s your turn.

“You have to turn up there, behave yourselves – have a party – but make sure you behave yourselves because you’re going there as an ambassador for our football club, our great football club, the great Glasgow Rangers.

“You must go there and behave, otherwise we’ll get all the trashy headlines, which would damage us for a long, long time.

“Please go there and behave yourselves, have a super time.”

Reacting to these appeals, Sutton posted his own video message on Twitter which has subsequently gone viral.

“Hello to all the Rangers fans out there in Seville,” the retired striker-turned-pundit began, “I’m just following on with the messages from Graeme Souness, Ian Durrant and Richard Gough, please just behave out in Seville and try not to let yourselves down.

“Come on. Do the right thing, guys. Be good, behave and don’t do anything naughty out there! Okay!”

As you can imagine, the replies to Sutton’s video are split right down the middle.

Celtic fans have found it hilarious, while Rangers supporters aren’t in the least bit amused.

We can only imagine what Sutton has up his sleeve if Rangers lose on Wednesday night.

The big man never misses an opportunity to have a cheeky dig at Celtic’s fierce rivals.
