Rangers captain James Tavernier ‘agrees terms’ to leave

We’re not going to criticise the Gallant Few Podcast, we don’t know Scott Young especially although we’re aware of the Rangers Journal and Young’s guest Deano, but this is the source breaking to the internet and the world that Ibrox captain James Tavernier has agreed terms with Al-Ettifaq.

We held off from reporting this yesterday, we decided to see what the immediate developments were, and as nothing specific has particularly transpired with it we’ll run the story for now.

The reality is whether Scott and co break it or anyone else does, Ibrox Noise did report over the past few weeks that Rangers had accepted the bid for he and team mate Connor Goldson, and the decision had been left in their hands.

If the Gallant Few are to be believed with their exclusive, Tavernier has said yes.

We urge caution – this podcast, like any other honest source such as Ibrox Noise, has taken a bit of a risk with this information, which could be wrong, and they’ve put their head on the chopping board with it.

It’s what all outlets do – we get information, and often we take a big risk publishing, because frequently it turns out to be wrong.

The only time source info is 99% correct is when Rangers as a club leak it out on purpose in advance of officially confirming it. But there’s always that 1% there that is wrong as well.

And fair play to them, they’ve gone for it, and if they are correct, Tavernier will leave Rangers this summer to rejoin Steven Gerrard in the Middle East.

There’s an air of inevitability about it now – with this heavy speculation no one has denied this story, despite both Rangers boss Philippe Clement saying he expected Tav (and Goldson) at Ibrox next campaign and Tavernier himself also saying he was planning to be at Rangers next season.

The fact he’s not denied this story is quite telling, and it’s been running for some time.

As we said, Clement could only say he ‘expected’ Tav back next season, not that he ‘hoped’ he would be, which was a big language shift backtracking a touch from full endorsement.

So is Tav on his way out?

It does look like it, yes.
