Rangers agree deal to sell winger to English side

With Jake Hastie FINALLY being sold, to Paul Hartley’s Hartlepool it seems, it brings to the end probably the worst signing of the Steven Gerrard era. Frankly, by a distance, and that is some going given some of the absolute garbage the ex-manager brought in.

Hastie was a truly horrific signing, one of the least able wingers we’ve ever seen at Ibrox, and the signs were there well before he arrived that this was a truly awful player and nowhere near the standards for our reserve team never mind the seniors.

It was that fateful day he faced Rangers in an ‘audition’ just as the speculation over his joining was strong, and if ever he stood out like a sore thumb for being terrible, it was that day.

Instead, it was his team mate David Turnbull, who ran the show, and who Ibrox Noise begged the Rangers hierarchy to look at instead.

Sadly, we stuck with our plan, and brought in the hapless Hastie, who is probably very very lucky to be able to get a gig in professional football at all and can consider himself fortunate to get England League Two in Hartley’s side.

He was absolutely terrible, literally incapable, and he absolutely peaked during those 6 goals in 12 for Motherwell which got Rangers’ attention.

Third of April v Aberdeen 2019 for the Steelman was his final goal in the SPL and that was the end of him being any good at all.

Rangers signed him that summer and he’s been woeful since.

We honestly wish him luck, we’re sure he’s a lovely lad, but this really was a bad, bad signing, and one of the many of the Gerrard era we are working hard on cutting loose.
