Rangers duo Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos could both remain at Ibrox, believes transfer reporter Dean Jones.
Their contracts are running down, but Jones does not think it is a certainty that they will leave Michael Beale’s side at the end of the season.
Last month, Football Insider reported that Rangers are still trying to get Kent to put pen to paper on a new deal.
The 26-year-old is out of contract next summer, so the Glasgow club are now in real danger of losing him for nothing.
Rangers are also in a similar position with Morelos, who can leave Ibrox at the end of the season for nothing as well. Beale, however, has made it clear that he wants to keep hold of both for Colombian forward and Kent.
“We also want to create a stronger Rangers going forward, with or without those players. Ideally with them,” the new Gers manager recently told Sky Sports.
Despite their expiring contracts, Jones does not think it is certain that both Kent and Morelos will depart Ibrox in 2023.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “I think there’s a chance that they could stay because I’m expecting new life from this team. And I’m sure that they are expecting new life and everybody else, too, and perhaps more ambition as well.”
According to BBC Sport, Rangers spent £7m on Kent when they signed him from Liverpool permanently back in 2019.
It is a lot of money for a Scottish Premiership side, but the Englishman has paid back that fee and then some.
As per Transfermarkt, he has made 196 appearances for Rangers and come up with 84 goal contributions.
Kent, of course, also played a part in the Gers winning the title back in the 2020/21 season, so it certainly looks like money well spent.
Morelos was much cheaper than Kent but has been just as impressive for Rangers. As per the Daily Record, the 26-year-old cost his current employers just £1m and has scored 115 goals in 243 outings since arriving from HJK Helsinki.
Combined, Morelos and Kent are currently valued at around £26m by Transfermarkt. They are not players Beale will want to lose but, ultimately, it does look like a possibility as their contracts continue to run down.
