Southampton have decided to part ways with Ralph Hasenhuttl following an abysmal start to the 2022/23 Premier League season, 90min understands

The Saints currently sit in 18th place in the league, having won just three of their first 14 games and have conceded a rather terrible 24 goals.

The final straw for the Southampton board has proven to be the club's thumping 4-1 defeat at the hands of Newcastle United at St. Mary's Stadium on Sunday - their eighth defeat of the season already.

Hasenhuttl had been in charge at St. Mary's since 2018 but has endured a rather topsy-turvy few seasons at the club. There were highs such as finishing 11th a few years ago, but also historic lows like the two 9-0 defeats the Saints suffered at the hands of Manchester United and Leicester City.

Attentions will now turn to who Southampton will bring in as a replacement for Hasenhuttl. The likes of Sean Dyche, Steven Gerrard and Mauricio Pochettino will likely be linked, as well as Gerardo Seoane, who was recently sacked by Bayer Leverkusen and replaced by Xabi Alonso.
