Ralf Rangnick was infuriated with Eric Bailly following the African Cup of Nations.

We are led to believe that is why Bailly has not played a single minute of football for Manchester United since the turn of the year.

According to The Athletic, Rangnick ‘tore into’ Bailly in front of his team-mates after the Ivorian arrived back ‘late’ from the AFCON.

The article states: “In December, the club recalled Eric Bailly from Ivory Coast duty when staff discovered he was in a different location to that agreed upon. United had granted Bailly an early departure to prepare for the Africa Cup of Nations but he was told to return to Carrington. Bailly then returned late from the tournament and was injured, too. Rangnick tore into him in front of the squad.”

Bailly returned from the tournament but found himself fall to the bottom of United’s pecking order at central defence. Even Phil Jones got a start ahead of him at Anfield this season, which was a decision that raised eyebrows at the time. Now it’s clear that there has been some sort of fall out between Rangnick and Bailly.

The former Villarreal defender has never looked like a defender that could be one of the best in the world, and a big reason behind that is he’s unreliable to the point you always fear he’ll get long spells out injured due to the way he plays football.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Bailly moved on this summer.
