Ralf Rangnick has been confirmed as the new Austria head coach on Friday, replacing Franco Foda.

He has signed a two-year deal that will be extended a further two years should Austria qualify for Euro 2024.

Rangnick’s first games in charge will come next month, as Austria take on Croatia, Denmark and France in the Uefa Nations League.

The Manchester United interim manager has also confirmed he will continue in his planned consultancy role with the Premier League club.

“I will take over as national team manager of Austria at the end of the season but will continue my consultancy with Manchester United,” the 63-year-old said.

“I’m really looking forward to playing my part in helping United become a real force again.”
