Ralf Rangnick confirms contact with incoming manager Erik ten Hag

Ralf Rangnick has been in charge of the side since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking last year and the German coach has now confirmed he has been in contact with Ten Hag through WhatsApp but they are yet to meet in person.
“We’ve been in contact via WhatsApp and hopefully we will have the opportunity to meet and speak in person, either at the weekend or Monday morning at the latest,” Rangnick said in his pre-match press conference, according to the Manchester Evening News.
“I’m looking forward to speaking to him in person and getting to know him in person.”
Ten Hag is believed to have arrived in the United Kingdom earlier this week and although he will have no input on the team this weekend, he will be present for the final game of the season against Crystal Palace.
The 53-year-old will then officially begin work the next day but supporters will be intrigued to find out the full extent of his working relationship with Rangnick.
Rangnick, who has accepted a job as Austria’s national team manager, will be jugging that position alongside a consultancy role at Old Trafford.
Whether he will have the mandate to control major decisions at the club remains to be seen but his poor six-month stint in charge of the side has done him no favours.
