Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic has the honour of captaining the team in tomorrow night’s Champions League clash against Young Boys.

Matic will wear the armband for the final match in Group F and it is set to be his first match under interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

“That was not even a dream because, when you start from a small village in Serbia, when you play for a team that has only one ball for one year and you just play with one ball!” the 33-year-old told ManUtd.com.

“I was dreaming to maybe play in the Serbian division, maybe Red Star Belgrade, but I am at Manchester United.

“It is kind of a dream. I am very proud because of that and, for sure, I take all the armbands to my home and that one will be framed.”

United already look set to top Group F and Rangnick has urged his players to respond to their disappointing defeat against the Swiss side earlier this season.

Rangnick confirmed his decision this evening, as reported on Twitter by BBC journalist Simon Stone.

This is the clearest indication yet that Harry Maguire will be rested for the match.

The manager already hinted that he will be resting a number of players for the game to try and get the most out of his squad over the festive period.

Young Boys’ visit could be an audition for several players to prove themselves under the new manager. We already know that Dean Henderson and Donny van de Beek will be in the line-up, too.

Matic will be the one responsible for bringing experience to the team.
