Who do QPR need to bring in before the end of the summer transfer window?

QPR enjoyed a strong finish to last season but will be looking to overhaul their squad this summer under Marti Cifuentes.

Cifuentes guided QPR to safety with one game to spare, having arrived in October 2023, and has committed his future to the club in a recent interview with Sky Sports.

The Spaniard is now set to embark on his first pre-season with the R's and will be keen to stamp his authority on the squad as he attempts to build a team capable of pushing towards the top half of the table next season.

QPR struggled for goals last season and will be looking to bolster their forward options in the transfer window, especially given Chris Willock's uncertain future and Lyndon Dykes's injury.

A new striker will be a top priority for Cifuentes as will a creative midfielder to potentially replace Willock, whose contract expires on 30th June.

The January addition of Danish midfielder Lucas Anderson has proved an astute signing and Cifuentes will hope he can find similar success in the market this summer.

Regardless, QPR have plenty of work to do in order to build a side in Cifuentes's image come the end of the transfer window.

Ali Al-Hamadi - Ipswich Town

Ali Al-Hamadi played a supporting role for Ipswich Town as they secured promotion to the Premier League for the first time since 2002.

Al-Hamadi joined the Tractor Boys in January from AFC Wimbledon but saw the majority of his minutes come from the bench.

The Iraqi international still managed to net four goals as Kieran McKenna's side secured a remarkable second-placed finish and, having made the step up from League Two to the Championship, he has proven his worth.

The 22-year-old is thought to have been deemed surplus to requirements at Ipswich next season and a loan move seems like the best move for all parties with Al-Hamadi in search of regular minutes. He has been linked with a move to newly promoted Oxford United in recent weeks and QPR would be wise to hijack any move for Al-Hamadi.

QPR are in need of a striker, with Dykes out injured and Sinclair Armstrong the subject of Premier League interest, and Al-Hamadi could offer the perfect short-term solution for the R's.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi - Crystal Palace

With Willock's future unclear, the R's may well be in the market for a replacement this summer.

Landing Crystal Palace rising star Jesurun Rak-Sakyi would be a shrewd bit of business and could see them improve their squad, rather than just fill a hole.

The x-year-old turned heads with an impressive loan spell with Charlton Athletic in 2022/23 – scoring 15 times and providing nine assists – but didn't make the breakthrough at Selhurst Park that some were expecting last term.

As a result, there's already talk of another loan spell and plenty of Championship clubs have been linked, including Luton Town and Blackburn Rovers.

With an exciting coach like Marti Cifuentes at the helm and a small squad likely to mean plenty of opportunities, Loftus Road could be an attractive destination for Rak-Sakyi and Palace while staying in London may well be preferable.

If the R's can win the race for the winger, it would represent a strong signing – whether Willock stays or goes.
