It’s fair to say Raheem Sterling will be looking forward to this season ending sooner rather than later.

The winger was dealt a fresh blow earlier this week after missing out on Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad for March’s friendlies.

And Sterling’s struggles continued as he had a chance to double Chelsea’s lead in Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final with Leicester City.

With Mauricio Pochettino’s side already ahead through Marc Cucurella’s opener, the 29-year-old won a penalty after being hauled over by Abdul Fatawu.

But Sterling’s spot kick was tame enough for Jakub Stolarczyk to keep out as the visitors’ goalkeeper guessed correctly to deny the homegrown player.

His latest ordeal from the penalty spot also marks the worst return with kicks in his entire career.

Things didn’t go much better for Sterling as he was booed after delivering a poor free kick which also led to reported chants of ā€˜get him off’.

The good news is that there’s only nine more weeks left before he can consign this campaign to the archives!
