The future of Raheem Sterling at Manchester City is ‘in doubt’ as the winger fails to replicate his England form at club level.

Sterling has struggled for consistency in his performances for Pep Guardiola’s side in recent months and failed to impress during the goalless draw with Southampton on Saturday, extending his concerning goal record to just two in his past 22 games for Man City.

The 26-year-old’s form is in huge contrast to his performances at international level with Sterling an essential part of Gareth Southgate’s plans with England, including scoring three goals during the Three Lions’ run to the Euro 2020 final to be named in the Team of the Tournament, while he also netted during the win over Hungary last month.

The Telegraph are reporting that Sterling’s struggles at club level have now raised doubts over his long-term future at the Etihad, with the winger having entered the final two seasons of his deal.

Barcelona have been credited with an interest in a loan move for Sterling in recent weeks, but any deals – even on a temporary basis – look hugely unlikely given the Spanish side’s financial issues at present.

Sterling faces a fight to secure regular first-team football this season following the arrival of Jack Grealish from Aston Villa, whilst the likes of Ferran Torres, Riyad Mahrez and Gabriel Jesus are also competing for positions across the front three.
