Raheem Sterling delivers on preseason promise

Chelsea bought Raheem Sterling because he had scored so many goals and picked up so many assists in title winning campaign after title winning campaign for Man City.

The question was whether he was just a “system player” benefitting from the way that Pep Guardiola had set his team up, or whether it was his skills which were really helping City create all those chances.

So far on the evidence of his limited time at Chelsea, it was very much the latter.

In a totally dysfunctional team he’s managed to keep up his superb record of goal contributions. So far this season, he’s picked up 0.7 goals or assists per 90 minutes.

That a quite incredible record, miles ahead of Reece James in second place with 0.4. Kai Havertz has 0.21, and Mason Mount 0.00.

Just imagine what Sterling could be producing once the whole team is firing? He might well match his amazing numbers form from City.
